As Arthur Brooks so aptly describes career changes in his recent book From Strength to Strength, I have taken my career “down to the studs” three times. I began as an industrial engineer in the high tech manufacturing sector before becoming a stay-at-home mom, raising our three children while my husband retooled and attended medical school. I dabbled in entrepreneurship but childrearing proved all-consuming, not to mention the looming expense of three college educations. Now with a freshly-minted empty nest, I am wondering where I go from here.

I confess it’s a bit uncomfortable to write anything more than a simple introduction. Blogging is way beyond my comfort zone. The idea of not knowing who might read my content is slightly terrifying. However, sometimes one doesn’t choose her passion; it chooses her. Then the challenge becomes being worthy of it and that requires courage and practice, which returns full circle to the purpose of my blog. But most importantly, I love something and I want you to love it, too. And it is my heartfelt belief that to know it, is to love it.

What’s in a name?

The blog name is taken from one of the closing lines of Lincoln’s First Inaugural Address. As a final plea for Americans to reunite, it was delivered a month after the formation of the Confederacy and appealed to “the better angels of our nature;” and so to here.
